Being separated or losing a child in a public place can be frightening for the parent and child so the Howgate would encourage families to teach children under 10 years of age, what to do before they visit the centre.
Free wristbands are available from the Help Desk so parents or guardians can write their name and contact number on the band for their child to wear during their visit. Bear posters are displayed throughout the centre with directional arrows on the bear’s tummy. Little ones can follow Freddie the Bear to a staffed safety station and use their unique ID wristband to let staff quickly reunite them with their parents – avoiding that gut wrenching feeling when you can’t see your child.
Families can Follow the Bear together when shopping so children know where to look, or visit the Help Desk for more information.
